Hi!

I bought one in 2007, that i used the whole season, then sold second hand, never had any problem.

Last winter, i bought a new one, and went to the same fishing spot than every year, i met a friend of mine, who bought the same woody 63″, new. After only 4/5 days of use, we noticed the same problems, first the varnish started to peel on the wood, because of the rubbers, on both guns, so much than the wood is now “naked” and the gun much less powerful.

Then both guns had problems whith the trigger housing, which is in soft plastic. After a while, the axle of the trigger and of the shaft retainer (don't know if i'm clear??), started to move, so in the end the gun fires itself, sometime only when putting the last rubber! This is really dangerous, and nothing to do to repair.

I tried to write and call the shop (leisurepro) who never answered! My guns was supposed (should still be!) to be guaranteed…

My american friend sold his gun, and went back to his aluminium copetition.

I saw the new woody have a completely different trigger systems… Is there any reason relative to those problems?

Thanks for your help

So I just too my brand new woody magnum out of the box and im not sure if there is something wrong with the trigger mechanism.  It seems that the only way to seat the shaft is to hold the trigger down and push the shaft in until it seats.  Is this right?  I called Divers Supply .com where i ordered it and they told me that is the way its supposed to work as a safety mechanism. Really? I own an older style JBL Woody sawed of Magnum and the shaft seats just by pushing it in with no need to hold the trigger. Any thoughts?  Do I need to send it back or is this part of the new trigger mechanism.

Ignore my last post. Got in contact with the boys at JBL, it turns out I wasnt giving it enough of a firm push to seat it.  JBL Rocks!  Thanks for the help, you have got a lifelong customer here.

Hmmmm,

I just bought a Elite Woody Sawed-Off Magnum and noticed the same issue. I just figured that it was how it was supposed to be loaded as well. I have not tried pushing REAL hard to see if it will seat or not so I have just been squeezing the trigger just like you were. I usually don't think things should need to be forced into a configuration they were designed for so I have been hesitant to really jam it in.
