I just purchased the Elite Woody Sawed-Off Magnum and I have a question about the gun. My previous experience with JBL guns is just with a small carbine model that the spear shaft goes through the endpiece. With this woody the shaft seems to just sit on the top of the gun and there is no endpiece that the actual spear shaft goes through. So my question about the woody is “What exactly holds the shaft in place when the gun is not 'armed' and ready to fire?”. I have noticed in some pictures that the shock lines seems to wrap over the top of the shaft at the end and that seems like it could maybe hold it in place. I have been unable to find any specific diagrams that show how the actual shock line is supposed to be wrapped around the the gun so maybe that could shed some light on this for me.

I know there has to be somthing that holds the spear shaft in place on the top of the gun so if anyone can tell me I would really appreciate it.

Thanks

After a bit more reading I have learned a bit about the difference between an open muzzle and a closed-muzzle setup. I now understand that the only thing holding the spear shaft on is the shock line. I still need to know how the shock line actually wraps around and holds the shaft in place while still not getting in the way once fired.

Thanks in advance for any help.

After seating the shaft, take the shooting line from where it attaches to the shaft and run it up to the muzzle on the left hand side, there should be a “pin” that you wrap the line under and then over the muzzle/ shaft and run it down to the line release on the right hand side of the pistol grip, then if you have enough line for another wrap, go up to the hook under the muzzle and wrap the line around it and back to the line release on the side of the pistol grip.

So you always have to use a line with this gun?
