Competition Magnum XHD* XHD stands for Extra Heavy Duty and we mean it. Thicker alloy barrel, 3/8” hardened, stainless shaft, trigger mechanisms are carbide tipped and all models are equipped with 5/8” Hi-Mod bands that feature stainless wire wishbones.
The XHD is the gun of choice for commercial and hard-core shooters; to these guys it’s a tool…not a toy. Three bands and a heavy shaft will punch through just about any fish, which is why the Shark Research Institute depends on the XHD for tough jobs like radio tagging 40ft whale sharks. Go big, go XHD.

Felipe,
The XHD Bands are 5/8″ thick instead if 9/16″. Yes you can use them on the

Duncan says:
When using the 5/8″ bands on my regular competition magnum, the outer band has the tendency to jump out of the muzzle when fired. What can I use to rectify this – would the metal muzzle help?
JBL Hunter says:
Duncan,
It sounds like the wing on your muzzle has pryed up. Maybe you need to replace it so there is less of a gap. It is hard to tell you without seeing it. Take it in to your shop and see about a new muzzle.

Depending on which gun handle that you have. Explorer and Carbine handle does not but you can modify it to attach a line. Other models you can tie the line through the handle.

Hello I am planning on buying the Sawed-Off magnum XHD but have a few questions. First how much line comes whth it 22ft? Also i am a freediver and will be using this in freashwater for bass pike and rough fish, and in the gulf of mexico for redfish grouper and various smaller fish.
